It’s been awhile. I dropped off the radar for a number of weeks…. Why?
It’s been a crazy couple of months.
The Building my condo is in was hit by a deadly fire. It got me thinking.
I’m fine. No damage to person or property. Others weren’t so lucky.
In this episode I ask you a number of questions:
How prepared are you?
Do you have a fire extinguishers & smoke detectors?
Do you have data back-ups? Are they in multiple places?
What about important documents that aren’t stored electronically?
God forbid you get in an accident. Is there someone else on your banking accounts who can access them and make payments and/or deposits for you?
Are all your passwords for emails and web site admin pages somewhere for a trusted person to be able to make changes to the pages or close them down for you if necessary?
What would happen if your studio burned down or you were flooded out? How long would it take for you to be back up and running?
And many more that make you stop and think.

Re-framing the rate question allows you to bring in your life experience to your performance and skill set.
Differentiating between the simple “Audio File” and the performance within the audio file is how you can charge higher amounts for your voice over services.

About Joe:
Joe Bevilacqua, also known as Joe Bev is primarily known as a radio theater dramatist. However, his career has taken him into every aspect of show business, including stage, film and television, as a producer, director, writer, actor, and even cartoonist.
In 1975, Daws Butler, the voice of Yogi Bear and many Hanna-Barbera and Jay Ward cartoon characters, dubbed himself Joe Bev’s personal mentor.
Since 1980, Bevilacqua has produced any award-winning radio programs for National Public Radio, Sirius XM Radio and others.
In 2012, Bevilacqua signed an exclusive distribution deal with Blackstone Audio, for his more than 40 years of audio work. He is releasing hundreds of hours of audio documentaries, comedies, dramas, autobiographies and more.
Bevilacqua won a 2007 New York Festivals Awards for his “Tribute to Joe Barbera” which aired on NPR s All Things Considered. And his NPR Weekend Edition story “A Guy Named Joe Bevilacqua” won the 2004 National Federation of Community Broadcasters Award.

Mark Malkoff is a comedian and filmmaker. He has been featured on the “Today” show, Anderson Cooper 360, and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”. He starred in a popular short video in which he visited and consumed purchases at all 171 Starbucks locations in Manhattan in less than 24 hours.
Mark also achieved worldwide media attention by living and sleeping in an IKEA store in Paramus, New Jersey for an entire week. In June of 2009 he stayed on an airplane for an entire month to get over his fear of flying which resulted in a Guinness World Record for most scheduled flights in thirty days. Robert has appeared on National Television several times. He is best known as the DAD on the 2012 Chevy SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL, HAPPY GRAD. He has appeared several times on Travel Channel’s “Mystery at the Museum”, Discovery ID’s “My Dirty Little Secret”, History Channels “Engineering an Empire”, a Recurring Role on Discovery ID’s “Watching the Detectives”, and has had several series regular roles on various shows. He most recently appeared in a Television pilot called “Male Bondage” where he is one of the series regulars.
Most recently, he was asked to play the lead in a new feature film where the part was written for him. The film is called “One” and will begin shooting in Fall of 2014.
University of Connecticut, where he graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Political Science. Robert then graduated from Pace University School of Law in 1991. He passed the Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania bar exams on his first attempt and was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1991. He is currently a practicing attorney, as well as an actor and accomplished voice over artist. Robert hosted a local radio program back in the mid 1990’s called “The Law Show”, and more recently, hosted a radio show called “Ask the Lawyer.”
He had the honor of writing a chapter in the fourth edition of the book The Art of Voice Acting, written by James Alburger, which is considered by many to be the bible of the voice over industry. He is also the author of the book Voice Over Legal.
Robert has done on camera or voice overs for: the LA Dodgers, Dean Koontz’s book, “The Husband”, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Aquafina Water, GlaxoSmithKline, Mountain Dew, the CIA, the US Marines, Reebok, TGIFridays, Zales Jewelers, Doritos, XpressBet.com, Saratoga Raceway, and many more. He has also appeared on camera in numerous commercials and industrial videos.
Robert has also helped many, many students, both beginning and experienced, get started in the voice over industry, and advance in the business, through teaching and production of their demos.
